To start a weight loss or fitness program is easy, yes it is so easy to make the decision and it is easy to get started. At the beginning we are full of enthusiasm, nothing is going to get in our way, we are going to trim our frame down and be lean, food and fitness, and fit. We are even more pushed on when, food and fitness, we think about how we are going to be able to wear our favorite jeans or dress that gave up the ghost of fitting our body long ago. We visualize, food and fitness, wearing our swim suit on our next vacation, we cannot wait to enjoy the changes.
It is all very exciting and most of the time it is a short lived excitement, when we realize that a few days into our new healthy lifestyle that it is going to be hard work to maintain the exercise that we have set for ourselves and the lack of food that we are experiencing, we wonder how on earth we are going to keep it up. This is when, food and fitness, the motivation starts to slip, our whole mood changes, we may even take a look out ourselves in the mirror and start to think, okay my body is not that bad, I could still wear that swimming costume with confidence, I don’t really need to lose any weight, may be just a few pounds will do it.
What we are doing is, psychologically looking for a way out of our punishing new task that we have set for ourselves, this is when we start to waiver, our food intake starts to rise, we start to hit on those sweet things again and the exercise slips under, food and fitness, the carpet. Before we know it, we are back to our old habits and the new healthy lifestyle is just a memory that we might only be reminded of when we see our hasty gym membership payments or we walk past that piece of exercise equipment we rushed out and bought in support of all our enthusiastic good intentions and is now just collecting dust in the corner or being used as a convenient place for clothes to hang on.
This is more of a prominent problem at the beginning of the year, when we decide to make so many fresh starts, but it is something that happens to many people through out the whole year, every year. So how, food and fitness, do we get around this problem, how do we successfully start a new lifestyle and then keep to that lifestyle, food and fitness, .
The first thing is to not set our targets to high, so many people go full flow into, food and fitness, a diet or exercise routine that is to harsh, they are setting themselves up for failure from the outset, food and fitness, .
, food and fitness, Cutting down the amount we normally eat to a drastic level is basically depriving our bodies, then on top of this setting unrealistic physical demands on our body that has not been use to exercise is madness. The secret is to start small and build, plan small cuts in the amount we eat and small changes is the type of food we eat, so we bring our daily food consumption down over time and we move from unhealthy food to healthy food over time (but always keep a few treats in our diet).
We also set small amounts of exercise and gradually build, food and fitness, on that base as our bodies get use to the exercise.
By planning our new lifestyle in gradual phases we, food and fitness, will ensure a far higher success rate. We have to keep in mind that we will not see results over night, just know that if we are consistent, then the results will come. The second thing we need to do to achieve our new lifestyle, food and fitness, goal is to keep ourselves motivated, this can be the hardest part and it is only made even harder when we pile on the pressure of food deprivation and an exercise program that is far to demanding for us to up hold.
It is, food and fitness, easier to keep on track if we set our plan in manageable phases.
There are many different ways to keep ourselves enthusiastic and on track for our healthy new lifestyle. Different things work for different people, visual, food and fitness, works for many, a photo of our self that we consider as when we looked our best and how we want to look again placed in a prominent position that we will see daily can keep us on, food and fitness, track. Taking on our new task with a family, food and fitness, member or friend can keep us on track, they push you and you push them, the results can be very positive.
Changing the way we think through mind training can be very effective, there are many audio courses and of course many books that can get us thinking the right way and change our mind set to positive, which can have us achieving what we want out of life in many different ways, not just lifestyle. The list is long, but there is always something that, food and fitness, we can find that will keep us enthusiastic, just investing in a book can be a lot less expensive and a lot more effective than a gym membership that we only use a hand full of times.
The conclusion is that motivation and a well structured manageable plan is what will get us long term results, not harsh unrealistic food rations and heavy workouts. We can succeed in achieving the body we want and our favorite jeans or dress that we thought we could never wear again will fit us like a glove and the next beach vacation will not be so daunting, if we take planned small steps then we will see big results over time.
