Insignia NS-L26Q-10A – 26″ LCD TV – widescreen – 720p – HDTV Review

I bought this TV for the Mrs. for casual bedroom viewing. For a 720p HDTV, going head to head for picture quality, you had to spend 0 more to get something which smoked its picture quality. The colors are rich; motion tracking is OK.

Verizon FiOS looks great on it when fed via HDMI. DVD’s & Blu-Ray look great on it too for casual, non-critical viewing.

The speakers are decent and have a balanced sound. The surround sound emulation option sounds like crap. It literally makes the whole TV enclosure sympathetically vibrate like a cheap clock radio.

The only other con is that the remote is not a universal remote so it cannot be programmed to control the Verizon set top box nor an Insignia BluRay player. Is it too much to ask that all remotes have the capability to be universal remotes?

Otherwise, given its limitations, it is a great budget HDTV.
